The Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) welcomed the district's newest educators and staff with its annual New Employee Luncheon on Friday, August 7 at the Lone Star Flight Museum. This year's event featured the whimsical theme, "A Sweet Welcome," transforming the venue into a candy-inspired celebration complete with colorful décor, sweet treats, and a touch of Willy Wonka magic.
More than 300 attendees—including new employees, mentor teachers, district leaders, volunteers, and community partners—gathered to celebrate the newest members of the Friendswood ISD family. Guests enjoyed lunch, exciting door prize giveaways, Classroom Kickstart Grant drawings, and inspiring messages from Sarah Pike and Superintendent Thad Roher, all centered around the excitement of the new school year and the incredible impact educators have on students.
This year's event was made possible through the leadership of Suzanne Banfield and Stacy Condon, whose creativity and dedication brought the "A Sweet Welcome" theme to life, along with the support of countless volunteers, community partners, and generous sponsors. FEF extends its sincere appreciation to Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union, the luncheon's Title Sponsor, for helping create a memorable experience for the district's newest employees.
For Katie Fort, the Foundation's new Marketing & Events Manager, the luncheon marked an unforgettable beginning to her new role.
"Starting my first week with the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation during one of our biggest events has been such an incredible experience," said Fort. "From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by an amazing team and a community that truly believes in supporting its educators. Watching so many volunteers, sponsors, district leaders, and Foundation members come together to make our new employees feel valued has been incredibly inspiring. I'm so grateful to be part of an organization that pours so much heart into everything it does, and I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by people who care so deeply about our schools and community."
The annual New Employee Luncheon reflects the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation's ongoing commitment to supporting educators from their very first day in the district. By creating meaningful moments of connection and celebrating those who dedicate their careers to students, FEF helps set the tone for a successful and inspiring school year.
As Friendswood ISD begins the 2026–2027 school year, the Education Foundation looks forward to supporting another outstanding year of innovation, collaboration, and student success. From sweet treats to heartfelt welcomes, this year's luncheon was a reminder that the Friendswood community is committed to ensuring every new employee feels right at home from day one.
